Boiler Upgrade Scheme
Looking for government support to reduce your costs and emissions? Grants of £7500 are now available for property owners in England and Wales to finally make the Heat Pump switch. But don't delay, there are only a limited number available.
What is the Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS)?
The Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) was upgraded in October 2023 for England and Wales. The purpose of this government funded scheme is to help customers afford the upfront costs of Air Source Heat Pumps / Ground Source Heat Pumps and gain access to highly efficient, low-carbon heating systems.
The government recognises that heat pumps play a key role in reducing carbon emissions from the UK’s homes over the coming years. That is why Air Source Heat Pumps & Ground Source Heat Pumps are key systems included in the Boiler Upgrade Scheme funding.
The Boiler Upgrade Scheme now offers upfront funding of £7500 towards the installation of an Air Source Heat Pump, helping customers to reduce the overall cost and get access to cleaner, renewable energy. Grants of £7500 are also available for Ground Source Heat Pumps to aid with installation costs.
The Boiler Upgrade Scheme is aimed at existing properties, encouraging the switch from fossil fuel boilers to renewable, low-carbon heat pumps. However, self-build new properties can also apply for funding. This is a process that Blue Leaf Energy, as MCS-accredited installers, can manage for all their customers.
Who is eligible?
The majority of homeowners in England and Wales are eligible to apply. The grants are not means-tested and only a small number of criteria need to be met to access the funding.
How much can I claim?
The Boiler Upgrade Scheme allows you to claim £7500 off an Air Source Heat Pump installation and £7500 off a Ground Source Heat Pump installation.
How do I claim it?
Only MCS-accredited installers are able to access the funding to ensure systems are designed and installed to the correct quality standards. Blue Leaf Energy are MCS accredited.
